Welcome to the Cyberinfrastructure Specialty Group of the Association of American Geographers!

Our objectives: The Cyberinfrastructure (CI) Specialty Group strives to enhance geographic research and scholarship on matters relating to cyberinfrastructure by:
  • encouraging the exchange of ideas and experience among geographers studying technical, social, economic, policy, and cultural aspects of CI.
  • providing a communication channel between CI funding agencies and geographic practitioners.
  • promoting research and advancement in topics related to CI.
  • encouraging reflection on the roles of geographers in CI.

GIScience 2010 Sixth International Conference on Geographic Information Science September 14-17, 2010 in Zurich, Switzerland
GIScience 2010 aims to bring together scientists from academia, industry, and government to discuss the state-of-the-art in geographic information science, and explore emerging research directions. The conference focuses on basic research findings across all sectors of the field and has two refereed submission tracks: full papers and extended abstracts. Pre-conference workshops and tutorials (Sep. 14) and the main conference (Sep. 15-17) will take place at the University of Zurich, Irchel campus, featuring state-of-the-art conference facilities within a park-like setting.

2010 AAG Annual Meeting April 14-18, 2010 in Washington, DC
The meeting will feature opportunities for interactions with government agencies and will include keynote speakers from nonprofit groups and other influential nongovernmental organizations located in the nation's capital.

ASPRS/MAPPS 2009 Specialty Conference November 16-19, 2009 in San Antonio, Texas
The theme for the conference is "Digital Mapping – From Elevation to Information.". 2009 is the 75th anniversary of ASPRS.
